Mission Falls Watershed Project
Mission Falls is a PL-566 project in cooperation with the Colville
Confederated Tribes for re-establishment of anadromous fish passage in Omak
Creek in central Washington. In 1928 this section of a pristine salmon and
steelhead stream became a barrier for migration with rock and boulder debris
from the construction of a railroad. The railroad line was later abandoned but
the barrier remained. The Multi-State Design Team prepared a design for the removal
of the barrier and an irrigation diversion. The project was completed in 1999
and is presently monitored by the Colville Confederated Tribes.
