McCarthy Emergency Watershed Project
The McCarthy Stream Restoration was an emergency watershed project for the
protection of historic landmarks in the Wrangell St. Elias National Park near
the Canadian border in southeastern Alaska. The project involved the
installation of stream vanes in an ice covered glacial stream in an area of
known archeological significance. The Multi-State Design Team prepared the design
and provided a construction engineer during installation in 2000 for this Class
V project. An archeologist from the National Park Service was on site during
excavation.
